Ahrefs – Is This The Industry Standard For Backlink Management?
Many people think it is. In fact, SEO people normally fall into one of two camps when it comes to backlink management services – Majestic or Ahrefs. I’ve used them both and they each have things that I like and others which I don’t like quite as much but overall, it has to be said, these are both stellar products and whichever you choose I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
Anyone who knows me and the way that I operate when taking on a new client knows that my mantra is “you are only as good as your competitors allow you to be” and this is particularly true when it comes to managing and building backlinks for your website.
We all know now that it is not the quantity of backlinks which affect a site’s ranking on Google and other search engines but the quality of those links. If your competitors have links from higher ranked websites than those that you have then they will probably outrank you in Search Engine Results Pages, (SERPs), all other ranking factors being equal.
This is one area where Ahrefs scores points in my estimation – they include this very handy backlink comparison tool which quickly dissects the competition’s backlink profile and lets you see where you need to improve yours. In the example below, you can see that Searchenginewatch have 44 links from .gov sites and 978 from .edu sites. this kind of site tends to be very choosy about who they link to and they are valuable links to get so if you have a competitor with high scores in those places then you have your work cut out for you. This feature alone justifies the cost of the package but we’ll come to that later.
