Google released their “Google Similar Pages” Chrome extension way back in 2010 but it hasn’t really been widely adopted in my experience despite it being free of charge.
I decided to take another look at Google Similar Pages when I was updating my review of the online SEO research platform “Similarweb” who charge a monthly fee for doing pretty much the same thing, plus a few extras of course.
Installation is simple, just go to the Google Web Store, here’s the link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-similar-pages/pjnfggphgdjblhfjaphkjhfpiiekbbej – the extension is free of charge.
Discover webpages similar to the page you’re currently browsing with Google Similar Pages.
Enjoying the page you’re looking at and interested in other similar pages? Trying to find more pages about a topic you’re researching, but having a hard time coming up with the right query on Google? Google Similar Pages can help!
Now you can quickly preview and explore other pages that are similar to the one you are browsing — on the fly, as you browse.
When you click the Similar Pages button, your browser will send a search query to Google to see if there are any similar pages to the page you are viewing at the time. From a privacy point of view, the data that is related to the query will be handled as described in Google’s privacy policy (http://www.google.com/privacypolicy.html).
Please be aware that, according to Google, this extension is still an early beta release so it vould be that many aspects of the extension may change in the coming months. Help us make it better by sending bug reports to similarpages-extension@google.com (include the Chrome version number and OS you are using).
As the extension is free and it’s the kind of thing we all need, or would find useful, from time to time I would have to say give it a try.
